Whatsoever is good, think on these things???

So this morning I'm wondering about dark humor. I have to admit I feel a little shame around some of the things I find funny.  For instance - this morning's cartoon has an oval man face down (drowned) in a hot tub and a policement leading his egg wife away. " Bad news is the hot tub broke his fall but he's hard-boiled. Good news is - my wife is making potato salad tonight."
What are the earliest form of dark humor in literature?  Hmmm.

I thought.

I thought that almost two years after daddy died, I wouldn't miss him so much. Given that your parents cause you considerable angst and stress,  I thought I would welcome not having all that angst and stress.  Given that it has been 642 days since he left. Given that he had lived a full life and I am excited he has his new life. I didn't think I would still miss him so much.
But our lives were woven together and I'm too old to fill in the space that was left by him. If that space could even be filled.  And when I look in the mirror and see my aging face, the face of Daddy or hear my voice echoing back to my ears and hear his laughter recreated in a female voice, I miss him.

Houston, I'm stalled...

Ok, I guess it is true - a body in motion tends to stay in motion and a body not in motion tends....well, yes, it must be true. A week off and the thought of ramping up tomorrow is, at the least, tiresome.  I've started wading through some emails that have piled up and it's a succinct reminder that the issues around child maltreatment havent' disappeared while I was off.  Rats!
